Air21 tests unbeaten Alaska tonight

BIGGEST challenge awaits the Air21 Express when they face the unbeaten Alaska Aces in the early round of 36th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup on Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.
After clinching their first win in an out-of-town game last Saturday against B-Meg Derby Ace, the Express are aiming for a back-to-back win when they take on the Alaska Aces in the second game at 7:30pm.
“If we’ll let Alaska plays its usual game, we’ll absolutely have a hard time beating them, so we really need to play tough defensively against them,” said team captain Wynnie Arboleda. “They are all hard worker.”
Unbeaten in three starts, the No. 1 Aces (3-0) will rely again on usual starters Joe De Vance, Cyrus Baguio,LA Tenorio, Mark Borboran, Bonbon Custodio, Sonny Thoss and Tony Dela Cruz, among others, to keep their winning streak alive.
The Express, who presently have a 1-2 record, will bank on rookies Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Nonoy Baclao, veterans Arboleda, Ronjay Buenafe, Josh Urbiztondo, Ronnie Matias, Carlo Sharma and Wesley Gonzales, among others. |
