After losing their opening game against San Miguel Beer, the Air21 Express are gunning to regain winning ways when they meet the Rain or Shine Elasto Paintmasters on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Wesley Gonzales, who scored 19 points, and rookie Rabeh Al-Hussaini, who debuted with 16 points and 11 boards, are expected to sustain their impressive performance in the early round of 36th Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup.
Game time is set at 5:00pm.
“Team will have to adjust faster to the new rules and limit Sol Mercado’s offense,” said team manager Allan Gregorio. “Defense is the key.”
Coach Yeng Guiao is expecting Ronjay Buenafe, Josh Urbiztondo, Wynnie Arboleda, Carlo Sharma and other players to bring up their usual numbers against Rain or Shine, which also aims to get its first win.
The Elasto Painters likewise plan to play up-tempo in a bid to offset the Express’ height advantage.
Air21 has become a big team on the entry of Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Nonoy Baclao.
Baclao, the first pick, missed the game due to a foot injury he sustained in practice. He is expected to suit up in this game.
