ALTHOUGH they stay winless with only a game left in the elimination round, Nino Canaleta and import Alpha Bangura kept fighting in Air21’s 89-111 loss against B-Meg on Friday in the 36th Philippine Basketball Association Governor’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Canaleta, a four-time slam dunk champion, spitted 18 points on 4-of-7 shooting beyond the arc, while Bangura posted 20 points and dished out six assists to lead the Express, who absorbed their seventh straight loss.
The Express struggled the rest of the conference after 6’7 hulking veteran center Dorian Pena got injured, leaving the team without a strong front liner that gave them many disadvantages not only in the defensive end but also in the offensive side.
Pena can also scores in the paint. Besides him, Danny Seigle did not also play due to back spasm.
Leo Najorda and Carlo Sharma merged for 24 points and 16 rebounds.
The B-Meg Llamados, who drew 31 points and 23 points from Darnel Hinson and Joe De Vance, respectively, improved to 4-4 win-loss log.
