AFTER absorbing their three straight losses, the Air21 Express shoot to stop the skid when they collide against the Ginebra Gin Kings in the 36th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Game time is set at 7:30pm.
Air21 coach Bong Ramos simply wants his players’ new-found toughness to be translated into a win. They almost upset the unbeaten Smart Gilas Pilipinas squad reinforced by 6’11 naturalized Marcus Douthit last Wednesday, 99-102.
“If we want to stay in the race, we have to get a ‘W.’ It will be a crucial game for us. It will be a good match up. We must stop their transition offense,” said Air21 head coach Bong Ramos, who will lean on new 6’3 import Alpha Bangura.
Bangura, who replaced ineffective import Geremy Robinson, scored 27 points in his debut. He is expected to support by local players Jay-R Reyes, Wynnie Arboleda, Dondon Hontiveros, Josh Urbiztondo, Danny Seigle and Carlo Sharma, among others.
The game is a must-win one for both teams since they are entering the homestretch of the nine-game eliminations with still a lot of ground to cover before they would be included in the six teams which advance to the playoffs.
Air21, after winning against San Miguel Beer in the opening day, loss three straight games that earned them a 1-3 win-loss slate while Ginebra is at 2-2 log. |
